Alaska is a land you can experience up-close and personal. It is a land you can truly call "home" during your visit here. Southeast Aviation flies to over 150 remote locations featuring U.S. Forest Service cabins in the Tongass National Forest that can be rented for an overnight breather, a week-long fishing, hunting, hiking and photo expedition, or even a 10-day off-season stay that is guaranteed to stir the soul and awaken the senses. Over 30 years of local flying experience: Southeast Aviation can help you choose the perfect wilderness cabin setting, taking the guesswork out of the equation and assuring you a quality outing. Perhaps your fancy is a lakeside A-frame surrounded by snowcapped peaks. The angler in you might prefer a cabin that overlooks a salmon-filled creek or a saltwater shelter on a millions-year-old fjord that is a major thoroughfare for a variety of marine life.
These U.S. Forest Service cabins offer a unique opportunity to experience the great Alaskan outdoors - spectacular scenery, abundant wildlife and sunsets that set the evening sky on fire. We'll drop you off at the front door, assist in offloading your gear and maybe even leave you with a fishing, hiking or photo tip.
Cabin Facilities: Located far from the beaten path, U.S. Forest Service cabins are located at remote lakes, streams, rivers and on saltwater beaches. Daily rentals range from $25 to $45 and cabin designs vary. Cabins sleep from 4 to as many as 12 people and feature table, benches, bunks, wood- or oil-burning stoves (wood is provided at cabins that include a wood-burning stove) and outhouse. At most lake cabins, a small skiff and oars are also available.
With such a wide variety of cabin styles and locations, we encourage you to contact us at Southeast Aviation so we can help you plan your visit and make recommendations on how to best enjoy this uniquely-Alaskan experience.
